About Aimee Penhale – How low back pain made me an osteopath!

Aimee Penhale OsteoptahHi, I’m Aimee and I graduated in 2016 with a 2:1 Master’s degree in Osteopathy from Swansea University. I decided to become an Osteopath because I had suffered with crippling low back pain for over ten years and it was treatment from an Osteopath that finally put an end to my pain! The G.Ps did their best with prescription painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs, but they just couldn’t shift it and in the end osteopathy was the only thing that helped me. I was so happy to be pain free that I decided that I wanted to be able to help people in the same way, so I started my journey of becoming an Osteopath.

I studied the osteopathic management of cervicogenic headaches for my dissertation, these are headaches that are caused by a problem in the neck that refers pain into the head. These types of headache are very common and it has been shown that manual therapy, such as osteopathy can help to alleviate the pain and frequency of this type of headache. Headaches and low back pain are my favourite things to treat, so many people suffer from one or both of them and they are so easily managed by osteopathy. Unfortunately one of the hardest parts of my job is the fact that so few people actually know that osteopathy could help them!

The best part of my job is knowing that I have helped people onto the road to recovery and have shown them how to take control of their pain through advice and exercise. Seeing the relief on people’s faces when they realise they can move without pain makes for amazing job satisfaction!

To those people who have heard about osteopathy but are not sure it could help them my advice is this – give it a try, you would be amazed at what it can do for you! You can get in touch (by call or text) on 07540453280 or book your appointment online using the button at the top of the page.
